Tom Sawyer in Memphis

Location, West Memphis, AR

We left St Louis early this morning to beat a rainstorm which hit as we left the campground. It continued to rain hard as we crossed the Mississippi River into Missouri and traveled south on I-55. This is a very good road which is concrete that has been shaved by machine for a nice smooth ride. Of course, as soon as we hit the Arkansas state line the road went to heck so I dropped our speed way down.

We planned to stay at Tom Sawyer Campground on the Mississippi River but the maps and Trailer Life were wrong. We ended up crossing the river into Memphis before we could turn around. We did find the campground and yes it is on the river and it is very nice. They have a new area set aside for 5th wheel trailers. The concrete pads are so level that the water doesn’t drain from them. We got set up just as the sky let loose and it really rained. They also have free WI-FI which works. Yahoo!!!!

We saw tugs pushing barges past our window.
